The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, says three officers in the command were shot during a protest against police brutality and are currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LASUTH. LIB had reported earlier that the protest in Surulere turned violent today October 12 after the protesters clashed with the police. LIB had reached out to him to confirm the death of the protesters in Surulere. Adejobi averred he wasn’t aware but that three police officers who were shot by protesters today have been rushed to the hospital. “Our anti-kidnapping unit officers were shot. Three of them were shot. They are in ICU now. They are LASUTH now” he said
Adejobi said the officers were in mufti when they were attacked by the protesters. He added that the command will release an official statement soon.
